You do not buy a mailbox every day. Those who do it right look beyond the price and pay attention to five things: the type, the material, the parcel capacity, the lock and the colour. In this guide we go through them one by one.

1. Choose the type first

The location of your mailbox determines the type. A freestanding mailbox stands on a base or post at the driveway or garden path. A built-in mailbox sits flush in a wall or facade and is barely noticeable. A surface-mounted model hangs on an existing wall.

2. Material and finish

If you choose corrosion-resistant aluminium with a high-quality paint finish, the colour stays deep and even, even on a north-facing facade. Aluminium does not rust and remains lightweight.

3. Letter or also parcel

If you order online often, look at a parcel mailbox. That way you no longer have to stay home for a delivery. Pay attention to the internal dimensions: they determine which parcel size fits.

4. Lock and operation

Choose between a classic cylinder lock, a combination lock without a key or a model with smart operation. Not every model is smart: link that choice to the model you choose.

5. Colour and style

With more than 2000 RAL colours you can match the mailbox to your facade, your joinery or your front door. A black mailbox is timeless, but a custom colour can be just what completes your home.
